Part 7 – Christ is honored!

Video

Our ultimate goal is to honor Jesus Christ by obeying the Great Command to love God and people above all else (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission to make disciples of all peoples (Matthew 28:18-20).  We are learning how to honor Jesus Christ together in the power of the Holy Spirit for the welfare of our city (Jeremiah 29:7). We believe doing so puts the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ on display and fulfills our calling (John 13:34-35; Matthew 5:16).

We are seeking to discover were Jesus is already working in our area and join Him in His work (John 5:17). This involves intentionally walking with Him each day, faithfully shepherding His flock, paying attention to the needs in our community and staying connected with other pastors and ministry leaders. Jesus is building His church and chasing hell back to its gates! (Matthew 16:18). Let’s press on together!

Please reflect upon these questions:

·       Is your leadership honoring Christ by how you are serving the best interests of others (Matthew 20:26, 28, Luke 22:26)?

o   Your family: being physically and emotionally present by maintaining your health in all of its dimensions.

o   Your congregation: shepherding and disciple-making through a heart of love.

o   Your colleagues: being available, encouraging, supportive and non-judgmental.

o   Your city or Samaria: understanding needs and dreams and mobilizing to meet these.

·       You are undoubtedly busy and making sacrifices, but are you using your time well, focused on what really matters to God (John 12:26, Matthew 25:21)?

o   Your God: the quality of your communion with Him.

o   Your family: leading and loving your wife and kids.

o   Your congregation: your balance on people vs. programs.

o   Your colleagues: at least spending a tithe of your time with them in fellowship and/or mission.

o   Your neighbors & community: your relationships with the lost and caring for those in need.

Check out the OneHeartDC Leadership Cluster Covenant.

We are praying for you – that God would be glorified through your leadership in all spheres; through the unity displayed in your Cluster and the unity you share within the broader OneHeartDC Gospel movement; and that you are thriving in His grace personally and in ministry.

We get to do this! What an amazing calling to shepherd God’s people and play our unique parts in building His Kingdom. But with our great calling, we have tough jobs that require uncommon dependence upon God and prayer, encouragement and sharpening with each other. We hope that this series has underscored the importance of Leadership Clusters for us as individuals and for saturating the DMV with the Gospel!
